2021.09.17 20:26 out_of_lefts Rockshox SID select is setup, charger rl damper.
Recently bought a specialized epic evo and I'm really struggling with setting up the fork. Following the guide it's far too harsh, never approaching bottoming out using maybe 70 mm of travel. Taking a little air out makes it far too soft doesn't ramp up at all, getting maybe 90mm of travel. Thinking I need some volume spacers to make it progressive. Does anyone have any experience with this fork?
Confused as the basic yari I had on my process 153 felt much more compliant. The new process has a pike ultimate which is still pretty firm but not like the sid is.

2021.09.17 20:26 partytime2017 survived its first real drop! using spigen air case.
just wanted to share a story of a fold 3 not breaking.. fell when closed 3 feet onto hard ground. I think it hit the baseboard edge first judging by the white mark it left on the case on the upper right hand corner.
got pretty lucky as that drop could have taken out any phone if it landed the wrong way.

2021.09.17 20:26 JnnyRuthless Passed - 100Q - 1st time
Feeling good right now, and as so many have said, if I can do it, so can you. I have been studying for this thing for almost a year, so it was a relief to get it out of the way with a pass, and I feel pretty accomplished right now. My background is about 10 years in IT Security in various roles (analyst, engineer, architect) and have been gunning for the CISSP for about 5 years now. I put it off after having kids and not really having time to study and then Corona hit so I was parenting and working 24/7, but in the last year my boss really supported me in my effort and got the company to pay for the exam, which was also nice since it's on the costly side. I had planned to take in May, but was spooked by the 'new' material and so rescheduled for September. In retrospect I wish I had planned a bit better, since extending it out for that long really took a toll on me ha. I look forward to sleeping again.
This summer was rough, my father-in-law died, my dog had a serious illness and died, and we had a bunch of construction going and even a flea infestation to boot. I was committed to not pushing it off though, so no matter what was going on, I set aside 1-2 hours a day to study.
What worked for me were a number of things - my boss failed his first time, and gave me a ton of hints about what to do that helped him pass, and they were very helpful. Having his support and my family's support was critical, I had a lot of cheerleaders pulling for me. Shout outs to this sub for inspiring stories, tales of success and failure, and great discussion about infosec and the exam.
What worked for me:
*Committing to some time everyday was key. I'm pretty busy but made sure I studied or took practice quizzes, etc. even if that meant it was 12 am -2 am many nights. Commitment and effort are a lot of the battle, and consistency made sure I did it even when I didn't feel like it. In my head I had to 'pay the man' most nights.(10/10) *My main study guides were Shon Harris' AIO 8th edition and the new 9th edition OSG. The Harris book is excellent and very in-depth, but I found the OSG pretty good as well, and the new one has a good amount of content that did come up in the exam, so worth getting IMHO. (8/10) *Used both the AIO and OSG online test banks extensively. I think last week I probably did between 600-1000 test questions alone. I wanted to be sure I knew my stuff so I could deal with the ambiguity on the exam. Did not use Boson or CCCure (which my boss used and swears by). I read every explanation, and really tried to 'think high-level' even on the practice tests, understanding the reasoning behind the answer(s). I would identify weak areas and review those. Once I was consistently hitting 85-90% scores I felt like from a knowledge standpoint I was ready. (7/10) *Rob Witcher is incredible- the CISSP mind map videos and flash card app were both great resources I went to repeatedly. Outstanding free content, and his style 'flows' in way which helps connect concepts. "I'm Rob Witcher, and I'm here to help YOU pass the CISSP" played like a record in my head. (11/10) *CISSPREP - mixed reviews on here but I found the quizzes and tests very helpful in getting a comprehensive idea of things, and the questions are probably as similar to the test as any I have seen, at least in introducing an element of ambiguity where no answer seems 100% correct. Did a lot of these with scores ranging from 50-80% so would not worry about scores with this one too much. (8/10) *Visualization - I would take some time to visualize sitting taking the exam, thinking about breathing if I felt panicked, and taking time to read through the questions and each word. I visualized choosing the best answer, then moving on and focusing on the next question. Not for everyone but this process helps me with anything I do. (10/10) *Kelly Henderhan - took advantage of her free cybrary course in January, and it was ok, but probably need more to supplement it. I enjoyed her personality and some of the instruction, but did not retain a whole lot from it. HOWEVER her video on how to think like a manager is brilliant, I watched it 1-2 times a day this week, including right before going in to the test center. (course 5/10, video 10/10)
I passed at 100q in about 90 minutes, and frankly, the exam is everything it's promised to be. Very challenging, and really requires you to think about the best answer for the question asked. A couple of times I was going to hit submit and realized I had missed a key word which changed which answer was best. Really important to go slow and re-read the questions, which was hard for me. I'm a quick reader, so I really forced myself to take my time on the questions, reading each about 3-4 times if needed. I did not think there were any surprise questions, everything was in the study material, although a good amount were based on new 2021 CBK, just to throw it out there. When it finished at 100 I figured it was 50/50 so was glad to see the congratulations on my sheet.
Final thoughts: Thanks to this community and every user who helped me out. Y'all inspired me and helped motivate me to keep going when I wanted to quit. I really appreciated it.
