Take A Sneak Peak At The Movies Coming Out This Week (8/12) New Movie Trailers We’re Excited About; Sustainable Celebs We Stan: Millie Bobby Brown Barry and Iris in elementary school. During the first year that Joe took him in, Barry attempted to impress the former by building a robot with wheels for his science fair project, which nearly set the school gym on fire and hurt his teacher, Mrs. Dumas. In school, Barry was relentlessly bullied by Tony Woodward.Joe noticed this and had Barry spar with Iris, who easily beat him. Considering how La Salle handled McDonagh and the Prep being the Prep, this weekends game should be a must see. For the first time in a few years there might be someone who could knock Prep off their pedestal. Should be a good one!! Michael says: September 26th, 2021 at 1:14 pm. Good luck stopping Mifflin on offense.

2021.10.22 16:27 EstherClemmens The Infinite
A/N had this very weird dream last night and thought I'd share it here. I'm ok with sharing this story as long as I'm given credit for it. Feedback is always welcome. On mobile (yikes, I know) but I don't have a better option at the moment.
Rob never did anything interesting. He worked 5 days a week as a store security guard at a popular grocery store. That was about the most exciting part of his day.
His shift required that he arrive before the sun came up so they could open this grocery store. Betty, the head cashier, would already be complaining about her aching feet... And aching back... And the customers...
The dryer buzzed loudly, snapping Rob from his mindless trance and signalling that his uniform shirts were done. As he hung them up, he looked out into his, small, rented back yard and the darkened sky above. I wonder how fast the universe truly is? his mind wondered.
He had heard about how time and space was like a rubber band, continuously stretching further and further. He heard mankind could never be able to fathom the extent of the universe- we are mere particles on a pin head, floating through the vast expanse of space.
These thoughts never frightened him. When he would decide to engage in any conversation with another, they would usually claim his thinking a bit terrifying. Here you are, a mere speck, living out your life. In the grand scheme of things, it's meaningless.
Not for Rob though. He wanted so much to understand the universe- to explore it like the Star Trek series did. He could be like Captain Kirk or Captain Piccard: explore strange, new worlds...
A loud crash of plastic bottles broke him from his thoughts. He turned to the shelving unit where he stored laundry detergent, fabric softener, extra coat hangers, and miscellaneous tools. There, on the shelf where the detergent normally sat, was a crouched man. He seemed just as unassuming as Rob, himself- or he would be if he had not suddenly shown up in Rob's locked house, sitting like a gargoyle on his laundry shelf.
Rob instinctively reached for his gunbelt, but he realized in horror he had not yet put it on. "Look, mister. I don't know how you got in here but you need to leave."
The man chuckled and jumped down from the shelf, knocking over a partially empty bottle of fabric softener. It joined the bottles of detergent on the floor. Rob noticed one leaking but this stranger seemed not to notice the mess he had made. Instead he dusted himself off, Rob noticing the khakis and generic Doc Martin's this man was wearing. He looked like someone that may work at a bank.
The man began to speak as Rob looked at the Christmas red sweater vest covering the white, long sleeve button down on this man- wait- isn't it June? Even though nothing on the sweater vest indicated it was for Christmas, it was actually very plain, so Rob mentally scratched his head as to why he thought of it as such.
"Hi, Rod. Name's Tom. Tom Sawyer," the stranger drawled out in a heavy southern accent. As he spoke, he began to pull off the button down and striking sweater vest as if he were removing an over-sized t-shirt, while the button down was still buttoned all the way up to the neck.
Rob blinked unbelievingly. Tom just pulled off the entire thing, button down shirt and sweater vest at the same time, like a cartoon character. Tom tossed the upper portion of his outfit casually on the dryer. And Rod followed with his eyes as it seemed to sail through the air flatly and land as if it had been carefully laid there.
Finally, Rob found his voice and asked, "Uh Tom, right?" As Tom nodded Rob continued, "How did you even get in here? Why did you get in here?"
Tom waved a hand in dismissal as he looked around and stretched as if he was stiff from just waking up. "Rob, you ask the unimportant questions. It's not for me to say why the universe sends its explorers where it sends them. I am just an adventurer." He then arched back and a crack sound came from it. "Ooo. It's nice to get out of that form for a bit." He gestured toward the sweater vest ensemble.
Rob was more confused by Tom's words than even his sudden appearance. Shaking his head, Rob claimed, "Look, I don't know how you got in here but you need to go. I have to get to work." He grabbed Tom by dad guest to the door. He opened the door and paused. He was always doing the logical thing. What this man was saying was rediculous- explore the universe. Ha!
But then, how did he get in Rob's laundry room the way he had? His strange explanations... What if he was telling the truth? What if he was like Q from Star Trek the Next Generation? Someone that could traverse space and time. He shook his head, trying to clear the ridiculous idea that had taken root.
As he began to push Tom out the door, Tom turned with a smirk. "I could show you," he claimed.
The next thing he knew, Rob was in his living room, a shirtless Tom lounging on his second-hand sofa. He noticed he was still holding the sweater vest ensemble in his hand. "Can you really travel through space and time?" Rob asked.
Tom sighed and sat up straighter. "I already said that, but I do understand that it's hard to believe." He turned to face Rob, eyes glinting with some unfathomable knowledge. "As I said, I am Tom Sawyer- like the Tom Sawyer of the book written by Mark Twain. I am an adventurer, but I don't travel along a large river. I travel the oceans of time and space."
"Ok, so how is it done?" Rob asked, genuinely curious. Even his earliest memories were of the stars at night and the desire to see them up close.
"All you've ever wanted was to explore the stars- to touch far away galaxies and see everything this universe has to offer." Tom mentioned. He began to pick lint off the sofa as he added, "To... Touch the face of God?"
Their eyes met and Rob gave a disparaging look to the shirtless man on his sofa.
Tom's eyebrows knit together in a serious expression. "I can't explain how it works. I just know that you have to put on the shirt. Don't worry. Once you agree the shirt will slide on as easily as it slid off me."
Rob looked at the sweater vest and white button down in his hand. He then asked, "Why me?"
Tom shrugged. "Why not you?"
The washing machine made a ping noise to indicate the load was done. Rob went to excuse himself, mostly to think, but Tom chimed in, "Don't worry about it. The mess in the laundry room is already been cleaned up, the clothes in the washer are running in the dryer." He smirked and added, "You have plenty of time."
Rob went into the laundry room and checked. Just as Tom had said, the bottles of detergent and fabric softener were back in place, the dryer was running and the washing machine empty. He then made his way back into the living room, a bit flummuxed but he had thought about what Tom had said. As he made eye contact, he didn't bother asking how this time. He demanded instead, "You said you would show me."
At this, Tom became completely animated. He jumped up and clapped his hands together with the exclamation, "And so I did! So I did, my boy!" He rubbed his hands together eagerly and commanded, "Put on the outfit and we will get started."
"No," Rob replied blandly.
"No?" Tom replied in a confused, questioning tone.
"No," Rob replied again. "You said you'd show me. I want to see with my own eyes first that this isn't some game.
At this, Tom rubbed his chin thoughtfully. It was several seconds of him rubbing his chin with a thoughtful, "hmmm..." Every now and then.
Just as Rob was beginning to lose patience, Tom shouted, "Eureka!" Which Rob replied with a quick glance to the closet where the vacuum was kept.
An excited Tom broke Rob's thoughts of the Eureka vacuum as he grasped Rob's hand. "Just hold on to my hand and I can take you to the edge of infinity, but only that far. Without the outfit, you cannot travel beyond. Do you understand?"
Rob replied breathlessly, "Yes."
He didn't even blink. He was in his living room, and suddenly he was standing on what looked like a darkened, rock ledge. He turned back to see blackness, nothing at all, but facing forward he saw galaxies, stars, planets, moons, nebulae... Everything at one time!"
"Time has stopped for you on Earth," Tom informed. "If you decide to return now, you will be able to finish getting dressed and get to work on time."
Tom and Rob looked ahead toward the vast array of the universe as it stretched before them. "But if you decide to explore, there is no going back- at least not right away." In his free hand, Tom seemed to summon a red and black flannel shirt, but Rob was too busy looking at the beauty of everything before him.
"After you have used the outfit enough, you will be accustomed to shifting without it. At that point, you must pass it on to another curious being," Tom explained. "Time to choose."
Rob released Tom's hand and was amazed at how easily the outfit slipped on. It didn't feel too warm or thick over his white undershirt. It adjusted itself to fit comfortably, but Rob immediately began to feel light-headed. He couldn't describe it, but he felt very very weird. "I... I..."
Tom slipped the red and black flannel on just as easily and added, "Happy exploring, Rob. Remember that you must pass the outfit on once you can shift without it." He looked at Rob, noticing he was fading away like a mist.
"I... I.... I don't feel so good," Rob declared as he felt so dizzy and weak.
"Of course not. You're shifting to become the essence that can travel through space and time," Tom informed. "Take the outfit off as soon as you find a time or space you'd like to explore further. Wherever you are, you will be safe to breathe the air, eat the foods, and drink the liquids as long as you keep the outfit in your hand."
"What does the flannel shirt do?" Rob's remaining essence wondered as Tom began to fade as well. He felt as if he was dying, but even now his curiosity knew no limits.
"That's for you to find out later," Tom replied as Rob dissipated and scattered to the solar winds.
Rob explored many places and many strange and wonderful planets, moons, and asteroids. He got to see first hand what made up stars and nebulae. He watched stars and solar systems be born, he watched as stars expanded and absorbed their orbiting planets. He watched stars die in fiery explosions. He met and communicated with diverse and interesting beings as well.
In time, he had learned to shift from space and time and all things in between. He could do it with or without the outfit. It was time to pass it along, but the universe did not send him to another curious being. Instead, he was sent to a second hand store. As he watched the cashiers and merchandisers, they indicated no hint of curiosity, but as he turned a corner, brushing a hand across the clothing on the racks, he felt a twinge of familiarity.
He looked at the item his hand was touching. It was red and black checked with long sleeves- the flannel! Tom went into the fitting room with it. He carefully hung the sweater vest outfit on the hanger and slid the flannel over his head. He immediately felt himself shifting.
A while later, an employee was cleaning the fitting rooms. All the outfits hung in them were brought back to the salesfloor. She hung them up and noted this unusually cheery sweater vest with a white button down seemed familiar. She had seen a couple of similar ones come through before. She hung it up and finished her duties before heading home.
So, if you are interested in exploring the universe and time itself, you might just find it in a local second hand store, or maybe even an unwanted home intruder. Just slip the outfit on. You'll see things you'd never have imagined but you'll forever be changed.
